FOXBOROUGH Mass.Beginning in the early 2000s and

lasting for more than a decade, the matchups between Peyton Manning’s Colts and Tom Brady‘s Patriots were must-watch matchups. From their three AFC championship Elandon Roberts Jersey Black Friday games, to the six regular-season MVP awards Brady and Manning captured during that span, quarterback play was the centerpiece of the rivalry.Manning’s departure from the Colts and Andrew Luck’s arrival in 2012 ushered in a new era in Indianapolis. But so far, Luck hasn’t been able to duplicate the success that his predecessor had against the Patriots. In five starts against New England, Luck has yet to notch his first victory against Brady.Luck is hoping to change his fortunes Thursday night, when his comeback tour stops in New England.“Certainly (in) my experience, we have come up on the short end, and that’s not fun,” he said. “Obviously, we would like to turn that around. We would like to flip the story, in a sense. But growing up, I remember some of those great games, certainly that AFC championship game here. So yeah, I do think I have an appreciation for it.”But on a team that has had a significant change in the roster over the past two seasons, the rivalry hasn’t been exactly the hottest topic around the locker room.“A young roster, just not as much talk about it,” said Colts coach Frank Reich, who saw some of those big games up close when he started his coaching career.Perhaps that’s because Indy has lost seven straight games in the series.Things heated up again in February when Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels reneged on his verbal agreement with Colts general manager Chris Ballard to become Indianapolis’ new head coach.“The rivalry is back on,” Ballard said as he left a news conference to announce the new search had begun. But the Colts (1-3) have started slowly since Luck returned to action after more than a year away following shoulder surgery. The Patriots (2-2) also had a modest start to the season but might be turning a corner聽coming off a dominating 38-7 win over the Miami Dolphins.Thursday is聽expected to mark receiver Julian Edelman‘s season debut after he served a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancers. It’s just in time for Brady, who has struggled at times this season without a dependable receiver to go to on third down.Edelman, who has been with the Patriots since 2009, also sat out the 2017 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the preseason.“I think we’ve played so much football together https://www.patriotsfanstore.com/Devin-Mccourty-Jersey,I really have no doubt where he’s going to be at, what he’s capable of,” Brady said. “He’s been a great player for our team. I think everyone’s excited to have him back, and anytime you add great players, it’s going to help what we’re doing.”81View Gallery Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj MehtaFINAL CHAPTER?New England gave kicker Adam Vinatieri his NFL start in 1996 when he beat out veteran Matt Bahr for the job.Thursday night could be his final appearance聽in Foxborough, Massachusetts.Though he’s on the cusp of breaking Morten Andersen’s career scoring record and has shown no indication of decline, the reality is the 45-year-old Vinatieri signed a one-year contract during the offseason and there’s no assurance the Colts could be heading back to New England anytime soon. Indy won’t play another round robin with the AFC East until 2022.Not that the four-time Super Bowl champion has given it much thought.“It very well could be. I guess every game could be your last game, you know,” he said. “I just haven’t thought that far ahead.”GRONK ON THE MENDPatriots TE Rob Gronkowski left in the second half of New England’s win over Miami after aggravating an ankle injury. He did not participate in the Patriots’ first practice of the week Tuesday.Brady has had trouble getting the ball in Gronk’s hands over the past three games. He’s had just 10 catches for 110 yards and no touchdowns over that span. Gronk has only one touchdown reception on the season.MILESTONE WATCHWith a victory, Brady (225 wins) can tie Vinatieri (226) for the most wins by a player in NFL history. Brady enters the game three touchdowns shy of 500 regular-season touchdown passes. He trails only Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508). He’s 41 now but the joy is still there for Tom Brady.“It’s a blessing to be able to do it,” the New England quarterback said Friday as he awaits his 19th NFL season with Sunday’s home game against the Houston Texans. “I love playing football. I love the sport and I’ve been doing it for a long time so I’m not sure what life would be like without it.”He got a taste of that 10 years ago when he was lost for the season in the opening game and he was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for Deflategate.“I’ve had a few experiences where I haven’t been out there, and I haven’t liked those very much,” he said.“I love playing football,” he added. “I love being out there, the preparation, what it takes to be a great player. Those things are still very enjoyable for me and there’s no place I’d rather be Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock, playing here and playing well.”Patriots running back James White says Brady comes ready to work every day.“Competitor, from eating (right) to studying, to getting to know his teammates, he knows who everybody in this locker room inside and out,” he said. “Just the way he works, you just want to emulate a guy like that 鈥?all the success that he’s had in this league. He’s a great leader for us and there’s no better example that you want to follow.”Brady, who recently said he’d like to play until he’s 45 Phillip Dorsett Color Rush Jersey, says his experience is a true asset as he seeks a sixth Super Bowl title.33View Gallery Gallery:Ranking NFL Quarterbacks From Youngest to OldestTroy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports | Troy Taormina“I think you can use it to a real advantage if you do things the right way,” he said. “I feel like I have a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge and I plan to use it. I mean, football’s fun for me. I feel like I can go out there, I can anticipate a lot of things. I’ve seen all the coverages 鈥?we have a lot of answers to the test. Now you just got to go do it.“Most athletes, by the time you get to a certain point you start to figure it out mentally and physically it becomes really hard. So, trying to be my best physically and be my best mentally and that’s a good place to be.”As for his conditioning, Brady says he is comfortable with his situation concerning his personal trainer, Alex Guerrero. Guerrero was removed from team flights last season but has reappeared as a sign of some sort of understanding involving coach Bill Belichick.“We work together,” Brady said. “I don’t want to bring on any drama this year 鈥?just focus on what I want to do and be a great football player for this team and try to be a good example in the locker room and provide great leadership. That’s where my focus is 鈥?I know we want to often times talk about a lot of other things, but I just really want to stick to football.”Brady starts this season with Danny Amendola now in Miami and Julian Edelman suspended for the first four games for a PED violation. There are five wide receivers on the roster, two of them added in the last five days.“I have confidence in them, certainly,” he said. “Phillip (Dorsett) and Chris (Hogan) obviously I played a lot with them last year, Cordarrelle (Patterson) is new and he’s done some good things, obviously, the reason why he’s here. He’s a really good player and he’s been productive in the league.“To be on this team, you have to be a good football player and the guys that are out there certainly I have a lot of confidence in.”Brady refused comment on the airing of Colin Kaepernick’s first Nike ad, saying, “I really want to focus on football.get ready for the Texans. They’re a great team.”
